Building a social media calendar your team can keep

M ost brands know they should post consistently, yet social channels often swing between busy weeks and long silences. The fix is rarely more effort; it is a plan that matches the time and resources you actually have.

Choose the channels that matter

You do not need to be everywhere. Pick the platforms where your audience already spends time and where your content fits naturally. Doing two channels well is more valuable than doing five badly.

Set three to five content pillars

Pillars are the recurring themes you want to be known for, such as expertise, behind the scenes, customer stories, product education and culture. They make planning faster and keep the feed balanced rather than purely promotional.

Pick a rhythm you can sustain

Decide on a posting frequency you could keep up during your busiest month, then plan around it. Batch-create content in advance, leave room for timely posts and agree who approves what so nothing stalls.

Build reusable formats

Templates for carousels, short videos, quotes and announcements save time and make your brand instantly recognisable. One strong piece of content, such as a guide or a webinar, can be cut into many smaller posts across several weeks.

Review monthly, not daily

Look at saves, shares, comments, profile visits and clicks rather than follower counts alone. A short monthly review of what worked, and why, is enough to steer the next month’s calendar.
